Louis“In 2001, Louis, then called Loopy, was languishing in a back hospital ward at the New York City Center for Animal Care and Control (CACC). The puppy had various medical problems and was a prime candidate for euthanasia. In those days, less than 1% of dogs in similar circumstances at the CACC survived, but it was Louis’ lucky day … Louis is a gentle giant, a wonderful, compassionate therapy dog. He works at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan, the hospital that pioneered the first therapy-dog program in New York City … Some of Louis’ greatest successes have been with neurology and oncology patients. Despite his size, he has always specialized in bed visits. For six weeks, he visited a patient with ovarian cancer who missed her own large dog very much. Louis lay on a clean sheet on the bed; together they enjoyed cuddle sessions of an hour or more, enabling her to delay her pain medication.”
From a new photo book that details the stories of dogs rescued from streets and shelters and how they learned to give something back. To the Rescue: Found Dogs with a Mission by Elise Lufkin, with photographs by Diana Walker

I’m sorry about the silence lately, but I’ve been sick in bed. To make up for this, here’s a picture of Capucine that I just found on my drive and that made me laugh.

She was 6 months old and as you can see, she had a very stylish hairdo. But since she had a huge mohwak, It was either this, or that :

Also, you can tell by the color of her nose that she liked carrots.

I know this video is old, but it still makes me laugh a lot.

Ditto.

Capucine with Mimi’s adorable daughters, Edwige and Louise. They got along so well that Louise cried when our train left. I think they make a pretty cool trio.

Smile Friday !
I love this picture for several reasons, but mostly because it was taken by Mimi.
Capucine and I spent 3 days with her and her family last week, and it was even better than I could ever have expected. As soon as we saw each other at the train station, our reconnection was immediate. Even though we have grown up on seperate ways, we found out that we are very similar in so many ways. We also share the same taste for many, many things. Our daughters got along great as well !
It’s a feeling difficult to describe, but being with Mimi felt like coming back home after a long trip. What we experienced goes to my “best moments of my life” list.

Micmacs à Tire Larigot by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

I searched for an english subtitled version of Jeunet’s new movie trailer but couldn’t find one. Anyways, I guess you get the idea. I’m definitely going to see this.

"Look what I can do !"

She’s not angry at all, but proud to show me her brand new skill : the “one side only” raised eyebrow. I’m a little jealous because I’m very bad at it. Maybe she got this from my dad, who was also able to move his ears, one after the other.

Today, Capucine and I met the most wonderful people ever. Miss C. got literally spoiled, as well as me, Aliocha and Hervé. There is so much love, kindness and generosity into the hearts of Alex, Mari and her parents. Thank you again so much for this awesome moment. <3 <3 <3

alexash:

I was also marvelous and wonderful to meet Mari and her family. She wants to steal Capucine, but I think I might steal her dad! SO cute! (And it was her mom’s birthday!) Plus Mari is teeny tiny and it’s super cute!

I'd better behave

 • Me : Capucine, tomorrow we will go to a region called "Pays de la Loire".
 • Capucine : Oh. I guess I'd better behave, then.
 • Me : ???
 • Capucine : Well, yes ! "Pays de la Loi" !
 • ("Loire" is the well known french river. "Pays de la Loi" literally means "Country of the Law")

The great redpetals sent me a link to myheinz where you can order ketchup bottles (in all forms and materials) with personalized labels.Pretty neat for ketchup lovers like my humble self around the planet.

Capucine needs this. She a “petshop” addict.
