Mimi, Mari

I’m packing my suitcase. Tomorrow Capucine and I are taking the train to go see Mimi. We haven’t talked on the phone yet, we’ve just exchanged a few messages on Facebook. I think we both wanted to keep all the talking for the day we would meet again. :)

We’ll stay there until Tuesday, then on our way back we’ll make a short stop in Paris in order to meet Mari and her family.

So many happy moments to come !!

I'm really flattered...

…that you like my blog so much, J,  but reblogging 25 of my posts in a row in one day on your own Tumblr is maybe…a little bit too much ? I’m sure this was not your intention but it makes me feel uncomfortable.

(sorry to post this here but couldn’t find an email adress)

At the bakery

Yesterday, Capucine and her school friends went to the bakery in order to learn how to make bread. I came along and took pictures.

The kids had a great time and of course, getting flour all over them was what they liked best.

Capucine took the kneading very seriously.

“Look at my baguette !”

“I put the first letters of my name on it in order to recognize it later.”

Inside the oven, pains au chocolat, being baked just for us.

Yum yum yum yum yum.

“Tadaaaaaaaa !”

Et voilà ! :-)

Silly French slang

glynnis:

les-francophile:

daniiiii:

I just found the Hide This French book book.  I don’t remember every buying it, but here it is anyway.  Here are some of the funnier translations.  Is it accurate?

Je lui ai roulé un patin.
I french kissed him.
Literally: I rolled a skate to him.

On a pris notre pied.
We had a good time.
Literally: We took our foot.

Il est  une grande folle.
He is gay.
Literally: He is a big crazy woman.

Il y a du monde au balcon.
She has big boobs.
Literally: The balcony is crowded.

Last one is my fave.

There’s also a variant to “Je lui ai roulé un patin”/ “I french kissed him”

“Je lui ai roulé une pelle”, literally : I rolled him a shovel.
