Chic - Good Times

This 1979 disco blockbuster features what may be the most well-known bass line in popular music. The wikipedia page includes a dizzying list of artists that have sampled the track, including Queen, The Beastie Boys, Daft Punk, my personal fav De La Soul, and, of course, The Sugarhill Gang.

Released during the economic downturn of the late seventies / early eighties, Good Times is a new spin on the depression-era tune Good Times Are Here Again — FDR’s 1932 campaign song.

Good times
These are the good times
Leave your cares behind
These are the good times
Good times
These are the good times
Our new state of mind
These are the good times
